There are the usual options - war, peace, alliances, and so on. Three Kingdoms is getting pretty darn hard in a good way. Wars were too often endless, no negotiations were enough to secure peace, and peacetime diplomacy options were zero. You were limited to a small number of options, many of which were almost useless, and the AI was unpredictable.

Diplomacy is a weak point in almost all «you versus AI» strategy games, but for a while it was especially bad in Total War.

Total War has finally revised its diplomatic system. For example, the «Fire» general is colored red and has bonuses associated with cavalry, while the «Water» blue general is better with leading ranged units. Each general is based on special features. They can also develop rivalry or decide to leave for another faction and take their army with them. Generals may be appointed to government posts.

This is a more character-driven game than any Total War since the days of the original Rome. Your generals are now essentially «Heroes», with unique armor, weapons and skills. The area cleared in the middle of the battlefield, where they pair up, is still a unique cinematic moment for the Total War series. The battles in which you participate bring a lot of prestige by suppressing the rebellion. So the first thing to do is grab a city or five. No cities, no ways to replenish their troops - nothing. But the problem is that the character has a small army and no territory at all. In the beginning, you play as Liu Bei, who is eager to restore the power of the Han dynasty, and unite China. This is a real historical era, which served as a supplement to the creative assembly of Warhammer. The developers were inspired by the fall of the Han dynasty in China and the ensuing civil war to create Total War Three Kingdoms. They began to create more lively and significant battles, as well as unique conditions for winning and unlocking interesting items, thereby abandoning the boundaries of real history. Both parts of Warhammer became very popular and profitable, thereby changing most of the Total War game itself. Total War Three Kingdoms is a challenge for the nearly 20-year-old Total War series. Developers can tell you how the systems work, the names of the units, the theme and the goal, but there is a moment that does not foresee whether there will be cohesion in the game, then how lucky. Games Total War, take more than 20-30 hours to go through one campaign, it is often difficult to say whether it is worth it until you reach the end. And one cannot say for sure what the new series will be, because in 2017 there was one of the best games of Total War, but in 2018 there was a complete failure. In which there are some disappointing elements, like the infamous Rome II and last year’s Thrones of Britannia. This part has broken the maximum of all parts like: Rome, Medieval 2, Shogun 2 and Warhammer. Several new previews feel very dangerous, as for Total War Three Kingdoms.
